My Vision
For this project, I wanted to design a board game cafe/lounge. I loved the idea of a vintage/speakeasy theme for this assignment so that is what my designs mainly reflect. I was influenced a lot by art deco motifs and Victorian typefaces. I took inspiration from the steampunk and deco punk design styles while also looking at games and movies like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Bioshock, Metropolis, and Tron Legacy. I wanted there to be subtle nerd references in the project. Some are more obvious like the d20 on one of the stickers and gift cards. Keeping with the Speakeasy aspect, I referenced libraries and books in my designs since a bookstore would ideally be the front of the establishment. My color palette was to reflect the warm jewel tones of the 1920s as well as promote a warm and relaxed environment. To keep my designs more refined and elevated, I used mostly lines and gradients here and there to add texture and depth to my elements. I wanted to keep an upper-class feel without feeling too stiff. I think that my color combination and usage of the victorian text aid in that goal.
